Location: Aldborough, North Yorkshire
Project: Barn Conversion
Property type: Grade II listed brick barn

What our clients asked for:
Conversion of barn into family home
Light-filled, open-plan living space
Sensitivity to listed buildings
What we did:
We spent time with our Clients to understand their Brief. In addition, we had to agree a scheme of work with English Heritage (as-was), the Local Authority planning team and ecologists – it wasn’t just our Clients who needed a new home, but a colony of bats!
As the site is designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument (Aldborough Roman Town), careful liaison with the Local Authority was key; an archaeologist was present throughout the early stages of work on site.
