What the client asked for:

A new home, built in the garden of their existing home, which would serve them in their retirement

What we did: 

The priorities for the project were to maximise natural light and achieve a flexible layout. The inclusion of an ‘L’ shaped corridor in the ground floor plan had the potential to create a dark space, so we avoided this with balconies and roof lights at first floor level.

Rooms were designed to be multi-purpose; the ground floor study can easily be turned into a bedroom, and the third bedroom currently serves as a dressing room.
