Turning Point - Drugs Intervention Project Sheffield
When the Drugs Intervention Project was established, it commissioned the charity Turning Point to deliver its services, essentially helping drug users to manage their addiction, access help and ultimately stop using drugs. The two organisations chose to co-locate in new offices constructed to the west of the city centre and each had specific requirements for their particular needs. The brief was complicated further by the service users have very specific but differing needs. Following a series of workshops, we designed facilities which met the needs of the complex brief. The site provided its own challenges, with available space wrapped around a courtyard and with some spaces virtually in a basement where the land sloped between two streets. The programme’s success was due in part to the architecture, enabling efficient service delivery whilst protecting both staff and service users.
